Insurance & Admissions

Getting started at The Haven is straightforward. Our team walks you through each step, verifies your insurance benefits, and helps you schedule the services that fit your needs. Whether you are seeking treatment for yourself or supporting someone else, we are here to guide you.

Insurance We Accept

We work with a wide range of commercial and public plans across Minnesota. Our admissions team works hard to verify your insurance benefits before you start in order to reduce the chance of unexpected costs.

Common plans include:
• Blue Cross Blue Shield
• Medica
• UnitedHealthcare and UMR
• HealthPartners
• PreferredOne
• PrimeWest
• South Country Health Alliance
• MN Medicaid (including PMAP plans)

If you are unsure about your coverage, contact us and we will check it for you.

Insurance That May Not Cover All Services

Some plans do not cover certain types of assessments or may require prior authorization before treatment begins. If your plan does not cover the service you need, we will review your options and discuss self-pay pricing when appropriate.

How to Begin Admissions

Starting treatment at The Haven typically involves three simple steps:

Step 1: Contact Us

Call us at (651) 734-9633 or submit this short form. We will gather basic information and connect you with our admissions team.

Step 2: Insurance Verification

We verify your benefits and outline what your plan indicates regarding coverage, authorization requirements, and possible out-of-pocket costs.

Step 3: Complete an Assessment or Begin Treatment

After verifying your benefits, we help you determine the best next step. Many clients start with a comprehensive assessment, while others enter treatment directly and complete the assessment as part of their early sessions. Both approaches work, and our team will guide you based on what makes the most sense for your situation.

What to Expect at an Assessment

Assessments usually take about one hour. You will meet privately with a licensed clinician who will ask about your history, current concerns, goals, and supports. This helps determine the most appropriate level of care and ensures treatment is tailored to you.

What to Expect on Your First Day of Treatment

Your first day is designed to help you feel comfortable and supported. A staff member will greet you, walk you through any final paperwork, and answer questions at your pace. You will meet your group or individual clinician and get a sense of how sessions are structured so you know what to expect moving forward.

If you are joining a group, you will not be asked to be the center of attention. Many clients feel nervous before their first day, and our team understands that. You are welcome to simply show up, listen, observe, and participate when you are ready. Our goal is to help you settle in, feel welcomed, and begin building confidence as you take this step in your recovery.
